CAO Cigars Unveils New Marketing Campaign
Nashville — CAO, one of the world’s foremost premium cigar manufacturers, announced today that it will debut a new ad campaign in the January/February issue of Cigar Aficionado magazine.
With the tagline “CAO REAL,” the cutting-edge cigar manufacturer will roll out a series of ads that will feature actual CAO cigar enthusiasts, further reinforcing the emotional cord between the sought-after brand and its consumers.
“We’ve always maintained that the success of our brand was and still is consumer-driven,” stated CAO Director of Lifestyle Marketing Jon Huber. “The ‘Real’ campaign is our way of paying homage to our loyal customers and saying ‘thank you’ for your ongoing support. Throughout the coming year, we will essentially be holding an open casting call for CAO loyalists across the country to become the next star of the ‘Real’ campaign. We will be accepting photos, letters, emails, and videos via our website at www.caocigars.com/real. Candidates that are selected will receive a year’s worth of CAO cigars and will be featured in our ad as seen in Cigar Aficionado magazine.”
CAO’s latest brand, La Traviata, was recently awarded a ’93′ (“OUTSTANDING”) rating by Cigar Insider and was one of the highest rated cigars of 2009.

I have always liked CAO. Definitely one of my preferred brands. Wish the interview gave more examples of the campaign. WIll go check it out now.
I love all the marketing directions companies take. CAO does a great job of marketing, and this will be no exception I’m sure.
I have been really tempted to do this but I don’t think I fit the mold so to speak.
Great article!
Heading to a shop for a La Traviata tomorrow.
Great idea by CAO! I love the La Traviata!
Ditto Traviata
Love CAO cigars, but would rather their marketing monies be spent giving away cigars then hiring plumbers to tell me what I should smoke.
I think this is a great idea. Kind of wish I was more photogenic.
Instead of putting money on advertising and “stylish” packaging, they better invest in making a cigar that doesn’t make me vomit.
I enjoy CAO sticks and prefer the olders stuff than the new when it comes to the older lines. Just haven’t gotten around to trying Americas or new yet, but I just haven’t stumbled across then yet.
The America wasn’t half bad. I had a five pack a while ago and one of them was plugged so it put me off them for a while. I smoked one eventually and really enjoyed it. I gifted two away and have one more waiting for a good excuse to meet the heat.
Hmmm… the America wasn’t a winer for me. But SOME CAO’s are awesome!
