Background:
From the region of South Songea in Tanzania Africa, this bean is grown at altitudes as high as 5900 feet. Songea is the capital of the Ruvuma Region in southeastern Tanzania, where the population is around 130,000. Tanzania is a nation situated in central East Africa. More than half of Tanzania’s GDP is from agriculture, which is dominated by natural resources such as gold, diamonds, coal, and uranium, though coffee does not rank particularly high.

Profile:
This small Peaberry has a vibrant aroma with a very sweet fruit pulp or core and a low pungency. On the pour, some earth notes arrive and the fruit aroma becomes a recognizable mango, complimented by a very faint tea leaf. This is quite a rapid and exciting profile. You can actually see the thickness on the pour. On consumption, the Tanzania reveals a smooth trait with low acidity, a medium finish, and a creamy core that reminds me a great bit of Dominican tobacco.
Synopsis:
This is an excellent bean; the relatively clean flavors all meld into a very complex cup that is light on the palate even while maintaining a medium finish; the marriage of flavors reminds me of a well aged cigar. The dominant flavor profile is fruit and tea, while the undertone is of earth and is very sweet. This is a cup that will entertain you for quite some time – grab it!
