Created by Alberto Medina in Miami, The Resurrection is the latest release from PIO cigars. Producing no more than 600 boxes a month for the national market, PIO is a true boutique manufacturer.  All cigars are produced in Little Havana and PIO strives to maintain the quality and value of each and every cigar.

I could not find a lot of information on the Resurrection but who needs words when we have a cigar to smoke, on to the toast!

Pre-light, 1.6:
The dark brown wrapper has a nice sheen with a fair box press. There are some veins to be seen and the cap is a bit sloppy.  Holding the cigar in the palm, I find that it is quite a bit lighter than I expected, however it is well packed with tobacco. The pre-light aroma is of solid tobacco but I did not pick up a tone of notes at the foot. The cold draw produces a very mild spice in the mouth that leaves t a slight tingle.

Burn, 1.8:
Cut, toasted, and lit the PIO Resurrection produces plenty of smoke with a nice draw and smoke temperature. The ash holds well and is consistent in color throughout the smoke. The smoke is well constructed and this shows throughout the life of the smoke.

Flavor, 2.8:
The first third of the PIO produces a hint of spice coupled with nutty tobacco that is lively on the palate. The second third produces more defined notes of nutty tobacco that leans toward chestnuts, however the finish has a mineral twist to it that is nice on the palate on the exhale. The last third really stays the course but the tobacco seems to come alive just a bit more and the finish is solid as a rock.

Overall, 2.7:
I enjoyed the smoke from PIO; priced at around $9.45, it is going to take a slight hit in the overall category, but it is a solid smoke that would lend itself to a wide range of palates. I enjoy boutique cigars and this is the epitome of that tag.  Pick a PIO up if you get a chance and let us know what you think.
