Last week we posted a poll and invited you to decide which 3 cigars we’d give away this month. Out of 10 choices from General Cigar, and with over 190 votes, you chose these three!
- La Gloria Cubana Serie N (22%, 43 Votes)
- La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Tabaqueros (18%, 34 Votes)
- Cohiba XV (15%, 29 Votes)
Thank you for your participation! You can see the full poll results here.
So, we’re giving away a box of each cigar this month and will select one winner for each box.
Entering is easy. Just leave us a comment telling us the first cigar you ever smoked. Feel free to tell us the story behind it if you’d like!
Good luck, and a big thank you to General Cigars for sponsoring this contest. To view their full line of cigars visit this link.

My first cigar was an Arturo Funte, not sure what style but I was hooked. I’ve been buying them and trying them on any trip I take or just from the local tobacco shop ever since. Nothing like some ‘me’ time in the ole hammock with a great cigar.
The first cigar I had ever smoked was October last year. We were out with some great friends and talking about slowing down, relaxing, and enjoying life rather than always running. We were enjoying a drink and he said, “you know what would go great with this…a good cigar.” We happened to be in a club that sells Montecristo. I enjoyed relaxing, communing, and even reminiscing as I smoked with a friend. I enjoy cigars as a way to relax and remember how blessed I am in life. When I want a cigar I tell my wife, “I am going to punch my man card.” This is one of life’s little enjoyments. My advice…enjoy life.
first cigar i ever smoked was a church hill cigar i made a promise to my brother to try a cigar on my 18 bought one and been in love with cigars since
CAO Brazilla, it was awesome! I liked it so much I smoked it way too fast and puked. Smoking ever since.
swisher sweet – cause I was being bad as a teenage. LOL
The very first time I ever enjoyed a fine smoke was March 22, 1985.
I’ll remember that date forever for 2 reasons.
First, it was the day I married my best friend, Donna. Whom I can say still is my best friend but more. She gave me 2 wonderful boys, who became better men I couldn’t be more proud of. I’m blessed to have them all still by my side.
Second reason, it was the day I smoked my first cigar. It was during our wedding reception. My best man gave me a Cohibia that I feel in love with. The body, flavor and aroma was nothing shy of perfect and just added to the moment. I prayed that day would last for both reasons, my wedding and that moment my best man and I shared a great smoke and walked down “yesterday’s memories” while watching MY new bride wave and smile at me across the room.
I’m still happily married to Donna, and I still enjoy a Cohibia now and then, it always brings me back to the best day of my life. It’s true, you really never forget your first love!
Thanks for letting me share.

My first cigar was a fake Cohiba on the beach in Cancun while on my honeymoon. The experience was great, but I couldn’t tell you how the cigar itself was.
The first cigar I ever smoked was a Macanudo 1968, which is still my favorite, although it is too expensive for me to be a daily smoke. At the time, Macanudo was giving away two 1968′s to anyone who clicked on the box at their site (can’t beat that!) I favor less intense cigars, so the 1968 was perfect, not weak, but it didn’t leave me with the feeling that I had just fought a fire in a tobacco drying barn either!
