Toast of the Week (3/17/16)

Hey guys,

I’m so excited that we have brought back this old Toast of the Week feature. It gives us a chance to share with our readers what’s happening at other sites, and maybe introduce them to sites they may not have visited yet. Also, it give me the opportunity to share a bit of what is happening around here.

As I’m sure most of you are aware, I just got married and to celebrate we’re giving away 100 Cigar Grand Prize to one lucky person as part of our Why I Love Cigars Contest. If you haven’t entered you have until March 31st to submit your entry. Since I was away on my honeymoon (in Disney World), there wasn’t a lot new here last week, but now that I’m back you can expect our reviews and news to come at their normal rate.

Here’s what’s going on elsewhere, and who we Toast to this week:
1) Our friends at CigarDojo.com are up to the same awesome things as alway. If you don’t have the Dojo App on your phone then you’re missing out, if for no other reason then the ability to play Cigar Wars. You can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play stores. Anyhow, Sumatra Samurai has reviewed the Moya Ruiz Pickle Juice. (Check out his review here.) We Toast him for the excellent review.

2) Over at Cigar-Coop.com, which is the best place for cigar news, you can find the news about the launch of Ochocinco’s new Eighty5 cigar brand. Coop has also reviewed the new 1502 XO Toro, and it definitely worth seeing why Coop believes it’s a “box worthy” cigar. (Check out his review here.) We Toast Coop for his continued commitment to cigar media.

3) We love pairing a cigar with just the right beverage here at Toasted Foot, and include a note on ideal (in our opinion) pairings at the end of each review. Jonathan Detore at Cigar Advisor has published a list of “17 Top Whiskey and Cigar Pairings”. We suggest you check out thes other JD’s pairing selections, and we give him a lot of credit for knowing the difference between whiskey and whisky. We Toast Jonathan for his sharing of his pairing choices. Check out the article here.

4) Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Toar over at CigarSmoke.org has posted a review of the Limited Edition Alec Bradley Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole. This annual release from Alec Bradley is definitely worth checking out, as is Toar’s review. Check out the review here. We Toast the guys at Cigar Smoke for their work, and their membership in the Cigar Media Association.

5) Chicago has raised it’s legal smoking age to 21 years old. You can read more about it at Cigar Aficianado’s website. (Check out the article here.) At Toasted Foot we’re not fans of over regulation by the federal government, and feel that FDA regulation of the cigar industry could deal a serious blow to the adult hobby we all love. Cigar Rights of America is doing the hard job of representing the right of cigar enthusiasts. We’re big supporters of the CRA, and are proud to Toast their fine work. Check out cigarrights.org for more info.

Let us know what you think of the new Toast of the Week, and if you see something out there of interest.

All the best,
Jonathan David
