Southern Draw Rose of Sharon
Cigar Review: Southern Draw Rose of Sharon

Last year released its first Connecticut cigar with the QuickDraw Connecticut, and since the release of that cigar, many have wondered if there would be a Connecticut addition to their core line of cigars. Finally, there is one, with the release of the Southern Draw Rose of Sharon. As with previous cigars in the core line, the company is keeping with its theme of flower plant name, while also drawing on the biblical expression that first appeared in the King James Bible in 1611...

Top Ten Cigars of 2016
Toasted Foot's Top Ten Cigars of 2016

Once again, it’s the time of the year when lists of all kinds appear, and amount them is our annual Top Ten Cigars list. It has been a very interesting year for the cigar industry. The FDA regulations seem to loom large over everything. Many new cigars were released this year, owing a lot to manufacturers trying to meet deadlines, and so there was an unusually high number of impressive releases this year. This made putting together this year’s Top Ten List harder to put together than in years past...

Top Ten Cigars of 2016 - Honorable Mention List
Toasted Foot's Top Ten Cigars of 2016 - Honorable Mention List

So many great cigars were released this year, and unfortunately not all of them can make our Top Ten List, but are nonetheless stand out enough to be acknowledged and shared with our readers. Our annual Honorable Mentions list serves as a place to tip our hat to the cigars that were in the running for the Top Ten, but did not quite make the cut for one reason or another.

Viaje Exclusivo Nicaragua
Cigar Review: Viaje Exclusivo Nicaragua

The Viaje Exclusivo began life as a personal blend for brand owner Andre Farkas, but since 2009 has become a staple in the Viaje line, with all kind of various sizes being released over the years. Now the Viaje Exclusivo gets a new Nicaraguan puro, manufactured at Casa Fernandez’s TABSA factory in Nicaragua, which sets it apart from the original line which is made in Honduras. This new medium-full to full bodied addition to the Viaje Exclusivo line surpasses its original version, and sure to become a favorite of Viaje fans.

Andalino by JRE Tobacco
Cigar Review: Andalino by JRE Tobacco

Julio R. Eiroa (father of Christian) released several new cigars at this year’s IPCPR, but the one that really stands out is the Aladino. Julio is also a legend in the tobacco industry, having grown tobacco in Honduras since 1963 and being famous for his original Corojo tobacco that formed the basis for Camacho’s success. With JRE Tobacco, it is being called a “crop to shop” operation, with every step in the process from farming, production and distribution being controlled by JRE Tobacco.

Toasted Foot’s Most Fascinating People in the Cigar Industry 2016

Two year’s ago, while watching the Barbara Walters special, I jokingly posted a list of my Most Fascinating People in the Cigar Industry to Facebook. When my buddy Jorge (who made last year’s list) saw it, he pointed out that in an expanded form it would make a great feature for ToatedFoot.com. One year later, our first annual Most Fascinating People in the...

Toast of the Week (10/28/16)

So, we’ve had a couple new reviews this week, and there are more coming. I recently did the math, and there are fewer than ten weeks until the release of our annual Top Ten Cigars list. There’s a lot of good cigars to get through before that happens. But enough about the future, here’s what happened this week in the cigar world… I was in New York this week, and...

Toast of the Week (8/19/16)

I know it’s been a while since we’ve had one of these Toast of the Week articles, but sometime life (and recovering for the trade show) gets in the way. That said, there is so much going on in the cigar industry right now that it would be impossible for any one site to cover it all, though Cigar-Coop.com does a good job of trying. Here’s some highlights from...

What’s In Your Humidor? with Rocky Patel

It’s hard to be a cigar smoker and not know the name Rocky Patel. I often refer to him as the Donald Trump of cigars, just because it seems like his name is everywhere. Few people have done as much for all aspects of the cigar industry as Rocky Patel. After twenty years in the cigar industry, Rocky is no longer an outsider, but a prominent member of the cigar...

Toast of the Week (3/25/16)

It’s been an interesting week around here. My week started off by hanging out with Enrique Sejas over at Stogies World Class Cigars, making this the perfect time to recommend the Matilde Oscura from our Top Ten Cigars of 2015.  I’m finally getting back to reality after too long a time spent in honeymoon mode, so we’ve reviewed the MBombay...

Also, it give me the opportunity to share a bit of what is happening around here. As I’m sure most of you are aware, I just got...

Southern Draw Cigars may be a relative “newcomer” to the cigar industry, but they’ve been quickly catching on with average smokers and avid cigar enthusiasts alike. Editorial: Toasted Foot Remembers 9/11

As someone who grew up in New York, September 11, 2001 had a profound effect on me. I grew up with several members of the FDNY and NYPD who gave their lives on that day. In a horrific act or terror 2,977 people lost their lives on that terrible day. (We have published those names below.) In the weeks and months follow September 11, 2001 the country seemed to...

IPCPR 2015 Coverage – Final Thoughts on This Year’s Show

On the six hour drive back from New Orleans I had plenty of time to mull over what I believed were the overall trends, winners, losers and such that I noticed at IPCPR 2015. IPCPR 2015 Coverage – Day 4 (Final Day)

Finally, it’s the final day of the show! In some ways it seems like it’s been a very long show, and in other it seems like there just hasn’t been enough time. This year the convention space was so long that it was difficult to navigate, and required insane amounts of walking. (My phone says I’ve averaged 11.2 miles a day for the last three days.) Maybe I’m just...
