Euforia Dominican Cigar from GMD Cigars
Cigar Review: Euforia (Dominican) Toro by GMD Cigars

Global Marketing & Distribution (GMD) Cigars may have an unappealing name, but they have some extremely appealing cigars in their portfolio. At the IPCPR in New Orleans I discovered the appeal of these impressive luxury cigars. The Dominican Euforia (yes, it’s spelled that way) is a flavorful medium bodied cigar with the quality that one would expect from a cigar produced at Kelner Boutique Factory in the Dominican Republic.

WIYH Master Sensei of Cigar Dojo
What's In Your Humidor?: Master Sensei of Cigar Dojo

There’s few people in the cigar media world that I admire more than Eric Guttormson (Master Sensei) over at Cigar Dojo. In a very short time Dojo has gone from a cigar blog to a cigar media empire with a mobile app, weekly contests, an online show (Smoke Night Live), merchandise (there’s even Dojo trading cards), events and cigars sold through third party shops (ie. the Undercrown Dogma or Viaje Throwdown). As the visionary behind this empire, Master Sensei has become the Elon Musk of the cigar media world.

Woody by Oscar Cigar
Cigar Review: The Woody by Oscar

Oscar Valladares has made a name for himself making unique cigars. There’s the Leaf by Oscar (wrapped in a tobacco leaf rather than cello), the Big Johnny (an 8” x 66 version of the Leaf Maduro) and the Island Jim No. 2 (that looks like a No. 2 pencil). Now, Oscar has released a cigar (mainly for events) that is a massive 21” x 100 vitola, and comes in individual coffins. While the Woody is more for show than anything else, it is a smokeable cigar and is actually surprisingly good.

Aj Fernandez Enclave Figurado Cigar
Cigar Review: AJ Fernandez Enclave Figurado

One year ago, AJ Fernandez teamed up with his father Ismael to create the New World, and followed it up with the New World Connecticut. (See our earlier New World review.) Now, they have once again partnered together in the creation of the AJ Fernandez Enclave. Beginning with the New World, there has been a reworking of the AJ Fernandez Portfolio that has been very well done. With an Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper and African Cameroon binder, the Enclave is a very distinctive addition to the AJ brand.

Cabal Esoteric Robusto Cigar
Cigar Review: Cabal Esoteric Robusto

While developing the Cabal core line at KBF, Chris Arolfo went through 21 blends or so with many of those being tweaked several times. According to Chris there was one robusto that he kept coming back to again and again, despite the fact that it did not fit into the core line flavor profile. Yet, it was too good a cigar to let go, so the Cabal Esoteric Robusto was born. The result is a medium bodied cigar with a very interesting flavor profile.

Warped La Colmena Amado No 44 Cigar
Cigar Review: Warped La Colmena No. 44

With so many boutique brands on the market being started by cigar industry celebrities, it is rare for a new brand to burst onto to the scene with the kind of quality, style, character and positive press that Jupiter, Florida based Warped Cigars has. While many boutiques fail to live up to the hype, Warped seems to surpass the hype. Although owner Kyle Gellis’ company began in 2009, in the last year and a half the company has really come into its own. With cigars coming from El Titan de Bronze and Casa Fernandez...

Contest: Win a Great Smoke 2015 Goodie Bag

Contest: Win a Great Smoke 2015 Goodie Bag

Every year, there is one event that both Willy and I. look forward to with the anticipation of a kid waiting for Christmas…Smoke Inn’s Great Smoke in West Palm Beach. One of the largest cigar events in the country, the Great Smoke was the brainchild of Smoke Inn’s Abe Dababneh. The event features the biggest and best manufacturers handing out cigars, live music, lots of booze, beautiful women, tasty food and a great chance to hang with other Brothers and Sisters of the Leaf. It was at a Great Smoke where I first met Willy, and it was at last year’s Great Smoke that Willy and I first hatched the plan to merge our two sites to created the ToastedFoot that you see today. So, the Great Smoke holds a special place in our hearts. The Great Smoke is an event that can’t be missed. But for those that didn’t make it to South Florida this February we’ve got your back. We got together with our good friends (and sponsor) at Smoke Inn to bring you this one of a kind contest to win the bag of goodies that was received by attendees at the 2015 Great Smoke. That’s 42 cigars!!! Between now and April 1st, submit your reason, excuse or story for why you couldn’t attend The Great Smoke via Facebook or Twitter, and Willy and I will choose the best one. The winner will receive a Great Smoke goodie bag with 42 cigars courtesy of Smoke Inn Cigars. We hope to see you all in attendance at next year’s Great Smoke. Charity Auction: Matt Booth Underwear & Room 101 Uncle Lee Cigars (Both Signed) Benefitting the Kids Cancer Foundation

Charity Auction: Matt Booth Underwear & Room 101 Uncle Lee Cigars (Both Signed) Benefitting the Kids Cancer Foundation

We at ToastedFoot are big admirers and supporters of the Kids Cancer Foundation. For a while now we’ve been looking for a way to get our readers involved in supporting this great organization beyond participating in the Smoke Inn Annual Toy Drive or Smoke Inn’s Great Smoke. With a little help from Matt Booth, Room 101 and our good friends at Stogies World Class Cigars in Houston, we think we have finally found a way…auction off Matt Booth’s boxers (and a signed box of Room 101 Uncle Lee). Yep, that’s right, we’re auctioning off a signed pair of Matt Booths drawers along with a signed box of Room 101 Uncle Lee cigars. All the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Kids Cancer Foundation. You may be asking how exactly ToastedFoot came across a pair of Matt’s underwear, and it’s a fair question. While introducing the Room 101 Uncle Lee at the Stogies Christmas party this year, Matt was hanging in the lounge with a group of people that included J.D. After complaining about how his pants felt funny, Matt finally reached in to investigate and found a wadded up pair of (clean) boxers down the leg of his pants, so the logical conclusion…let’s auction them off for charity, and throw in a signed box of cigars too. So, here is how it works: – Matt Booth’s signed boxers and the signed box of Room 101 Uncle Lee are being auctioned together (not as separate items). – The auction will go from now thru February 27th (National Cigar Day) – Submit your bid to ToastedFoot by emailing jondavid@toastedfoot.com – No bids under $100 will be considered – We will occasionally post updates on Twitter and Facebook with the current high bid – At the auction end the winner will receive an email with PayPal payment info – The Uncle Lee Cigars and Matt’s boxers will come via our friends at Stogies of Houston – All monies received from the auction will be given to the Kids Cancer Foundation The Room 101 Uncle Lee has become an “event only” cigar, so it will not be an easy cigar to find. Luckily, if you...

Contest Update: Just Find J.D.

Contest Update: Just Find J.D.

Last week, from Sunday thru Thursday, I made a trip up to Orlando. While there I got a chance to visit several area shops including Sosa Family Cigars at Downtown Disney and multiple Corona Cigar Co. locations. It was a great chance to meet and talk to some of our readers, and talk to fellow BOTL like Earl from Ohio or Mike from Ocala. To celebrate my joining the ToastedFoot team, I decided to give away a five pack of Casa Fernandez Aganorsa Leaf Maduro to the first of our readers to find me on my trip. Ray C. of Orlando was the big winner. He managed to find me as I was getting out of my car in the parking lot of Corona on Sand Lake Rd. Congrats Ray, enjoy the cigars! Thanks to everyone who participated in the Just Find J.D. contest. All the best, J.D....

Cigar Contest: Help Us Decide What To Give Away!

Cigar Contest: Help Us Decide What To Give Away!

We have an exciting contest for you this month! We are giving away 3 boxes of cigars, sponsored by General Cigars! And, you decide which 3 boxes we give away! Below you’ll find a poll with 10 selections from General’s lineup of cigars. You’ll get one vote to tell us the cigar you’d most like to win a box of. We’ll take the Top 3 requested cigars and start a contest to give a box of each cigar away. The contest with the selected cigars will begin next Monday. So, here’s the poll and the ten smokes up for grabs. If you need some help deciding, you’ll find a bit of information on each cigar listed below the poll. Thanks for voting! [poll id=”19″] Information on each cigar (view all of General’s brands here): Cohiba XV: The most distinctive leaf of a COHIBA XV cigar is its sun-grown Sumatra wrapper from Ecuador. Harvested only from the tops of the tobacco plants, each of these wrapper leaves is aged in tercio for three years. The flavor is then enhanced by aging all of the leaves again for six months in crates of fragrant cedar. In crafting COHIBA XV cigars, the most flavorful Nicaraguan Ligero and Dominican Piloto Cubano Ligero are bound with the richest three-year-old Connecticut Broadleaf. The result is a cigar that is made, not only to please, but also to impress. Don Tomas Cameroon: The Don Tomás Cameroon Collection is available in seven shapes, four of which are perfectos. The perfecto cigar is a work of art and can only be hand-rolled by the most accomplished craftsman. All of the tobaccos in this line of cigars have been aged for a minimum of three years. Hoyo de Monterrey Reposado en Cedros: After being masterfully handcrafted by Honduran artisans, each Hoyo de Monterrey Reposado en Cedros cigar undergoes the Inmersión™ process and is left to rest for an extended period of time. Enveloped in fragrant cedar, the cigar matures to a complex, medium-bodied smoke with a uniquely spicy, rich taste. La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Tabaqueros: Meticulously handcrafted of a proprietary Nicaraguan and Dominican blend, Artesanos de Tabaqueros is bound with a rich Ecuadoran...

Mike Uhren Contest – Part Three

Mike Uhren Contest – Part Three

Today is our final posting for our cigar art contest. We’ll run the contest until the end of next week – March 11th. To view part one and part two, click here and here. Remember, just leave a comment to enter. Opus XXX These were based on a layout of some sticks I got in a trade. The BOTLs that I’ve dealt with thus far have been so overwhelmingly generous I sometimes feel like I’m inadequate in comparison! The story of this piece is based on a particular guy who said he was going to send me one Opus X, which at the time I’d yet to get my hands on. He sent a fiver along with tons of other top shelf stuff I can’t really afford. I just grabbed a handful and played with some layouts and this was one of the layouts I chose. I’ve since had quite a few Opus and love them every time! Original sold. Prints available. Padron Anniversary 1926 Maduro You know, I’ve yet to smoke this cigar! I think I have two of them, but they’re a larger stick and I always feel like I don’t have enough time alloted and chicken out on lighting it. I’d hate to light it and have to walk away before it’s done. I always look at it in the humidor and wonder how it’s going to fare. Someday. In the meantime, I had to use a little imagination on this one! The letter ‘P’ for Padron forms in the smoke. I always love the way the smoke rolls off of a lit cigar. It can be so smooth if you’re inside and so active when outside. It’s also fun to paint. Original and prints available on this...

Mike Uhren Contest – Part Two

Mike Uhren Contest – Part Two

Today we continue our contest, which features cigar art from Mike Uhren. You can view yesterday’s art piece and learn more about the contest by clicking here. Leave a comment to enter. Liga Grande I’d been on a serious Liga binge and was running low on sticks, and wanted a little ‘memory’ after my last one. As I smoked, I’d tried to take the bands off to save for this very purpose. They all riped to shreds. The model for this piece was the last cigar and the last shot I had to salvage one. It also happened to be the best one I got. It still tore a little, but not so badly it couldn’t be used. I included the slight tear in the artwork. Pretty simple. Jonathan Drew made the comment on FaceBook that it was “So fresh and so clean, clean.”  Made me laugh. Love it! Original & prints of this one are available. CC’s and Cuba This one has been quite interesting to me because as soon as I finished it I started smiling ear to ear. I love it. I thought this one was SO cool. I grabbed every CC I’d been traded at that point and laid them out leaving the shape of Cuba underneath, and started painting.  So many bands/brands/marcas are in this one perhaps it’s overwhelming. My wife thinks it’s the best thing I’ve done thus far and I think it’s in the top three. Folks haven’t been requesting it as much as others and that’s what makes it interesting to me because I enjoy looking at it. Perhaps it’s that the small jpg size on the net doesn’t allow proper detail.  The original is 2′ x 3′.  It’s big!  Original still available as are...

Cigar Artist, Mike Uhren (And Contest)

Cigar Artist, Mike Uhren (And Contest)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cigar Artist Mike Uhren – if you’re unfamiliar with his work, we hope to remedy that this week by highlighting five of his pieces. You can view much of his work on his website here, and you can also follow him on Twitter here. We also have a CONTEST for you – one winner will select his/her favorite of the 5 pieces we feature, and Mike will send you a print of the piece ($100 value). To enter, just leave a comment on each post (1 entry per post), and tell us what you like about the piece and where you’d hang it if you won. (UPDATE: Part Two is now live) Mike recently described his art for us – For about 90-95% of my work, I’m grabbing a stick I’m about to enjoy, or have recently enjoyed, and I paint what moved me about it. Sometimes it’s the smoke, sometimes just the band, and sometimes it’s based on what I did before or after the cigar.  Sometimes it’s just the pairing of a good cigar and a good drink. I just try to capture the experience I’ve had and perhaps it’ll match something someone else has been experiencing. My hope is that my art can help people get back to the experience they had.  A shared experience if you will. Today’s featured piece is entitled  Verocu 9 Band This piece is a an odd size at 9″ x 12″ but to be honest, it was completely by mistake!  I grabbed a set of canvases I thought was 11″ x14″, as it was in the 11 x 14 shelf space. I didn’t even give it a second thought until I got home and started painting. What Bob Ross would call a ‘happy accident’.  It’s actually part of a series of three different Tatuaje bands. I painted the Verocu 9, a T110, and a standard Red label. All three originals are sold already, but prints are still...

(Expired) Contest Time! Featuring Berger & Argenti Premium Cigars

Contest Time! Win a Box of Cigars, a 6pk, and a 3pk! Berger & Argenti is known for great tightly controlled, small batch production of great tasting cigars with unique packaging. Their Clasico was recently named Robb Report’s Best of the Best, and their Entubar stands as the highest rated cigar on Toasted Foot. So, when Al Argenti contacted me about a contest, and then mentioned they had a brand new cigar displaying at this year’s IPCPR, I was ecstatic! What’s the new cigar? It’s called the MOOCH, and it’s got an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and filler. Here is the presentation picture! It’s a looker! The MOOCH is so new, that they don’t have a slogan yet – and that’s were the Toasted Foot faithful come in! Berger & Argenti needs your help! So, here is the contest: Help Berger & Argenti come up with a slogan for their brand new cigar, MOOCH. Al said he was looking for something catchy and humorous, can you do that? This shouldn’t be too hard; after all, we’ve all known a cigar mooch! To help you with the slogan, here is a bit of information on the cigar: medium-bodied with creamy notes of oak, coffee, and nougat. The suggested retail price is $3.99-$5.79 depending on size. Have fun with the slogans, and submit as many as you want – and Al Argenti will pick the winners! Oh, and you might want to know what you’ll win: Grand Prize Winner: A Box (30ct.) of the new MOOCH Second Place Winner: 6pk of the Entubar Third Place Winner: 3pk of the Clasico So, get your Madison Avenue caps on loyal readers! And, if it helps, here are a couple of their current slogans: Entubar – ‘More than Just a Cigar’ Clasico – ‘A Decadent...
