Don Pepin Garcia 15th Anniversary Cigar
Cigar Review: Don Pepin Garcia 15th Anniversary LE Toro

To celebrate the 15 years since the launch of his original Don Pepin Garcia brand, My Father Cigars has released the Don Pepin Garcia 15th Anniversary. It’s hard to believe that it’s only been 15 years since Garcia released his namesake cigar brand, because Don Pepin’s cigars helped to launch the trend toward full bodied peppery Nicaraguan cigars that are so popular now. Coming in two sizes (robusto and toro), the Don Pepin Garcia 15th Anniversary is limited to 2,000 boxes of 14 individually coffined cigars of each size.

Cigar Review: Toraño Vault W-009 Toro

Now under the supervision of Jack Toraño, since General Cigar Co. acquired the Toraño Family Cigar Company, the brand has had some great new releases such as the new Toraño Exodus. In the past, the Toraño Family had released cigars based on the family’s 34 year old blend book started in 1982 by Carlos Toraño, Sr., such as the Toraño Vault A-008. Jack Toraño and the General blend team reworked some of these original blend recipes. The Toraño Vault W-009 is one of these re-envisioned blends...

Southern Draw Jacob\
Cigar Review: Southern Draw Jacob's Ladder Lancero

Our 2017 Cigar of the Year, the Southern Draw Jacob’s Ladder, is now available as a lancero! Just like the toro vitola that earned the top spot on our Top Ten Cigars of 2017 List, the Jacob’s Ladder Lancero is a full bodied cigar that features a Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper from Lancaster County, and is a fitting addition to the Jacob’s Ladder line.

Caldwell Cigars the T
Cigar Review: The T. Toro by Caldwell

Matt Booth, Robert Caldwell and AJ Fernandez are all accomplished cigar makers on their own. Bringing the three of them together is similar to bringing together the 1992 Olympic Basketball “Dream Team,” and the result is definitely a winner. The cigar that comes from this collaboration bears the name The Truth or simply “The T.”, and is truly a great medium bodied cigar coming from AJ Fernandez’s factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Top Ten Connecticut Cigars
Toasted Foot's Top Ten Connecticut Cigars

The last few years, many new cigars have been released that have brought new life to the Connecticut shade category of cigars. Instead of simply being mild cigars lacking in flavor that are primarily for novice cigar enthusiasts, these new cigars are complex mild to medium bodied cigars that can be enjoyed by both the novice and the seasoned cigar enthusiast. Many of these new breed of Connecticut cigars are coming from boutique companies that have, until now, been know for fuller bodied cigars.

Cigar Poll: How long have you been a serious cigar smoker?

For this weekend’s poll, we want to know how long you’ve been seriously smoking cigars. I know that’s kind of subjective, so let’s consider serious meeting the majority of these credentials: own and use a humidor, frequent a B&M or order online, smoke at the very least weekly, aware of new releases, etc… [poll...

Cigar Poll: When do you take the band off your cigar?

For this weekend’s poll, we want to know at what point you take the band off your cigar? Is it before you light it up, maybe to save, when the ash reaches the band, during the smoke? Or, maybe you never take them off, and you put the cigar out when it reaches – or maybe you’re a super wildman, and you just burn straight through the band! I...

Cigar Poll: Do You Choose Your Cigars Based on the Season?

Last weekend we asked about winter smoking habits, and this weekend we have a similar question – do you choose which cigar to smoke based on the season? I’ve heard many say that they smoke smaller or stronger cigars in the winter, while they enjoy a larger and milder smoke in the summer months. So, how about you? [poll...

Cigar Poll: Where Do You Smoke in the Winter?

We are finally starting to get some spring weather here in Georgia and it’s wonderful. For this weekend’s poll, we want to know where you spent your winter smoking the most. For me, it was inside my garage bundled way up – I didn’t use a heater this year for whatever reason. Thanks to Joseph, our friend on Twitter, for coming up with the...

Cigar Poll – Limited Release and Hard to Find Cigars

Today we are asking how you feel about all of the limited release cigars that are produced each year. Ahead of the limited release class seem to be Viaje and Tatuaje. These cigars are produced in very small batches, and at times are produced specifically for a B&M, and are sold only there. From the comments on my cigar forum, there are lots of people who...

Cigar Poll: How Do You Feel the Recent Merger with General Cigars Will Affect CAO’s Product?

In 2007, CAO was bought out by Scandinavian Tobacco Group, then in late 2010, Scandinavian merged with the superpower of Swedish Match. Swedish Match owns General Cigar, who is responsible for such large brands as Cohiba, La Gloria Cubana, Macanudo, Partagas, and Punch, among many others. So, our poll question today deals with what affect this new merger will...

Coffee Reviews and a Poll

Back in February we started adding a coffee review here and there and we have really enjoyed learning more about coffee and on tasting. We’ve been less consistent as of late, but there are some new reviews lined up for the next couple of months. We hope you’ve enjoyed this aspect to the site, as minor as it may be. You can check out the full list of...
