Cigar Review: QuickDraw Connecticut by Southern Draw Cigars


Veteran-owned Southern Draw Cigars has been producing high quality cigars for two years now, and their Southern Draw Kudzu Gordo even earned a spot in our Top Ten Cigars of 2015. With their QuickDraw line, Southern Draw has created some small, but no less flavorful cigars at a reasonable price. The QuickDraw Connecticut in the line to be released in two vitolas, and joins the QuickDraw Habano and QuickDraw Pennsylvania.

At last year’s IPCPR Trade Show in New Orleans, Erik Espinosa’s company was one of the definite stars, with several new releases coming from his Estelí based La Zona Factory. One of the new releases on display was a rebranded and reblended Espinosa Habano. Similar to the original Espinosa Habano, the 2015 version is a full flavor and full bodied cigar at a very reasonable price.

The Bailey Family, which has been growing tobacco in Virginia for 150 years, has expanded their portfolio to include the premium cigar brand Cornelius & Anthony. Brand owner Steven Bailey has named their new release after his grandfather Cornelius Bailey, who ran the family’s first tobacco business back in 1866. The Cornelius is being produced at Miami’s El Titan de Bronze Factory, and like other cigars coming from the factory is a well constructed complex cigar that is sure to be a hit with avid cigar enthusiasts.

At the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show in New Orleans, Master Blends Cigar Company, owned by Luis Gutierrez and Juan Carlos Rojas, announced the Manolo Estate Cuban Heritage line to be produced in the Dominican Republic. The brand’s name pays tribute to Manual “Manolo” Rojas, and the multiple generations of the Rojas and Gutierrez families that have been in the cigar industry. The Manolo Estate Habano Serie 32 manages to mix flavor and strength at an exceptional value.
