Toraño Exodus 2016 by General Cigar
Cigar Review: Toraño Exodus (2016)

In 2014, General Cigar Co. acquired the Toraño Family brands in a well publicized deal, with Jack Toraño remaining on as the brand’s ambassador. While last year there was not much new from under the Toraño banner, this year there were several new releases on display at the IPCPR Trade Show, the most noticeable of which was an new Toraño Exodus. This new Exodus is both something new and a cigar that can be appreciated by past fans of the Toraño brand.

Stogies RoMa Craft Neanderthal H-Town Lancero
Cigar Review: RoMa Craft Neanderthal H-Town Lancero (Stogies Exclusive)

Stogies’ H-Town Lancero Series has had many great cigars, but it seems like the last several have been among the best and would be a hard act to follow. Skip Martin’s RoMa Craft Tobac has managed to continue the high standards set by earlier H-Town releases with his Neanderthal H-Town Lancero. Full bodied and flavorful, the Neanderthal H-Town is unlike any other cigar in the series of lanceros made exclusively for Stogies World Class Cigars in Houston, Texas.

The Oscar HAbano Cigar
Cigar Review: The Oscar Habano

Oscar Valladares made a splash with his Leaf, which came wrapped in a tobacco leaf rather than cellophane. Now Oscar has followed that up with a cigar that comes in a candela sleeve in place of cellophane. In a first for Oscar Valladares Tobacco, The Oscar features Nicaraguan filler, as well as Honduran, giving this full bodied cigar a bit more kick to it. If the initial reactions, both at the IPCPR in Las Vegas and my local retailer, The Oscar is bound to be Oscar’s biggest hit yet.

Cornelius & Anthony Venganza
Cigar Review: Cornelius & Anthony Venganza

So far, Steven Bailey’s Cornelius & Anthony has been releasing some really impressive cigars. The Venganza, their latest release, follows the Cornelius and Daddy Mac, and manages to continue the company’s streak of excellent cigars. The Venganza is a full bodied cigar coming from Erik Espinosa’s La Zona Factory in Estelí. With its full body and flavor, the Venganza is likely to be the company’s most successful release yet.

Gaaja by Bombay Tobak
Cigar Review: Gaaja by Bombay Tobak

After much success (and two Top Ten Cigars on this site) with the MBombay brand, Mel Shah’s Bombay Tobak has expanded. The Gaaja, is a mild-medium bodied cigar, that makes use of some very fare tobaccos, including Paraguayan tobacco which is not used particularly often in premium cigars. Like previous Bombay Tobak releases, the Gaaja is complex cigar with a wonderful balance between the flavors. While the Gaaja takes its name from the Sanskrit word for elephant, but there is nothing bulky or ponderous about the cigar.

IPCPR Trade Show 2016 Las Vegas
IPCPR Coverage 2016 - Final Thoughts on the Show

Well, the 2016 IPCPR is finally over with, and I’ve had a few days to recover. While running errands with my wife, hanging out with friends and catching up on work for my day job, I’ve had some time to gather my thoughts on the IPCPR Trade Show last week. As I sit here on my patio smoking an Espinosa Laranga H-Town Lancero, I have decide to lay out my thoughts on this year’s show, in the same way I did last year. There are my own personal thoughts and opinions, and should not be taken as anything more than that.
